Sustainability
Our children are the future care takers of our environment, and through education and leading by example we are committed to ensuring they have the information and resources to ensure a sustainable future.
We promote embedding sustainability broadly into our curriculum, empowering children to develop an appreciation of the environment and its relationship to their world. Simple tasks learned early can have a great impact. Just some of our sustainable practices include:
- Solar Panels providing for most energy use at Deebing Heights Early Learning Centre;
- Simple waste recycling strategies;
- Energy saving practices for heating, cooling, lights and appliances;
- Using natural or recycled materials for play wherever possible;
- Avoiding single use plastic items;
- Creating edible gardens for sharing and cooking – ‘garden to plate’ model;
- Educating and modelling efficient water use;
- Educating and modelling decomposition through composting and worm farms;
- Continuously educating about our precious planet!
We walk the walk, not just talk the talk!
